Resumo: Objective: to identify variations in cognitive domain scores by examining their relationship with recurrent depressive disorder (RDD) in the elderly. Methods: cross-sectional observational study, with a sample of 54 elderly people who met TDR criteria and were matched by sex, age and education with a control group. Between July 2015 and July 2016, sociodemographic data were collected and a structured psychiatric interview (MINI-PLUS), reduced geriatric depression scale (GDS-15) and cognitive assessment scale (ACE-R) were carried out. Results: of the 54 elderly people with TDR, 48 were female (88.9%) and 6 were male (11.11%). The average age found was 68.2 years (SD ± 6.0). The majority were married (31.5%), white (74.1%), Catholic (66.7%) and received up to the minimum wage per month (57.4%). The total average ACE-R score found for cases was 63.80 points (SD ± 18.55) and controls 64.44 points (SD ± 19.1). The mean Mini Mental State Examination score for cases was 23.0 (SD± 4.2) and controls 23.6 (SD± 4.9). Conclusions: no statistically significant differences were found in the cognitive domains between the groups with and without recurrent depression.

Conclusions: no statistically significant differences were found in the cognitive domains between the groups with and without recurrent depression. Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2024-04-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/pajar/article/view/4569110.15448/2357-9641.2024.1.45691PAJAR - Pan American Journal of Aging Research; Vol. 12 No. 1 (2024): Single Volume - Continuous flow; e45691PAJAR - Pan-American Journal of Aging Research; Vol. 12 Núm. 1 (2024): Volumen Único - Flujo continuo; e45691PAJAR - Pan-American Journal of Aging Research; v. 12 n. 1 (2024): Volume único - Fluxo contínuo; e456912357-964110.15448/2024.1.reponame:PAJAR - Pan American Journal of Aging Researchinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUCRSporhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/pajar/article/view/45691/28505Copyright (c) 2024 PAJAR - Pan-American Journal of Aging Researchhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPanini, Alceu ValentinoSgnaolin, VanessaEngroff, PaulaCataldo Neto, Alfredo2024-04-19T12:16:44Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/45691Revistahttp://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/pajar/about/editorialTeamPRIhttp://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/pajar/oaicataldo@pucrs.br||pajar@pucrs.br2357-96412357-9641opendoar:2024-04-19T12:16:44PAJAR - Pan American Journal of Aging Research - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
