Resumo: OBJECTIVES: Describe the sample of elderly, who use teleassistance, as well as personal, family and sociodemographic variables. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study of the type of prevalent cases. Made in the home of the participants, aged over 60 years, living in the city of Porto Alegre and users of teleassistance. RESULTS: The sample consisted of 25 elderly. The mean age of the group was 82.24 years. Most of the participants were women (92%), widows (60%), who live alone (84%), with a mean educational level of 13.58 years. The size of families varied from one individual to 14 people, with an average of 7.3 individuals per family. CONCLUSIONS: The participants of this study, all users of teleassistance, although they have relatives, live alone. The option of using assistive technologies, such as teleassistance, may be ensuring greater security and independence for these people.

Realizado en el propio domicilio de los participantes, con edad superior a 60 años, residentes en la ciudad de Porto Alegre y usuarios de teleassistencia. RESULTADOS: La muestra fue compuesta por 25 ancianos. La media de edad presentada por el grupo fue de 82,24 años. La mayoría de los participantes estaba compuesta por mujeres (92%), viudas (60%), que viven solas (84%), con una escolaridad promedio de 13,58 años de estudio. El tamaño de las familias varía de un individuo hasta 14 personas, con un promedio de 7,3 individuos por familia. CONCLUSIONES: Los participantes de esta muestra, todos los usuarios de teleasistencia, a pesar de tener familiares, viven solos. La opción por el uso de tecnologías asistivas, como la teleassistencia, puede estar garantizando mayor seguridad e independencia a estas personas.OBJETIVOS: Descrever a amostra de idosos, que utilizam teleassistência, quanto as variáveis pessoais, familiares e sociodemográficas. MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo transversal do tipo casos prevalentes. Realizado no próprio domicilio dos participantes, com idade superior a 60 anos, residentes na cidade de Porto Alegre e usuários de teleassistência. RESULTADOS: A amostra foi composta por 25 idosos. A média de idade apresentada pelo grupo foi de 82,24 anos. A maioria dos participantes era composta por mulheres (92%), viúvas (60%), que moram sozinhas (84%), com uma escolaridade média de 13,58 anos de estudo. O tamanho das famílias variou de um indivíduo até 14 pessoas, com uma média de 7,3 indivíduos por família. CONCLUSÕES: Os participantes desta amostra, todos usuários de teleassistência, apesar de terem familiares, moram sozinhos.
