Rafael’s houses - the subjectivation of “living” and “moving”

Resumo: This paper explores the meanings attributed to phenomena such as “to live”, “to inhabit” and “to relocate” from a biographical research perspective. It moves further away from normative concepts on housing, observing the lived experiences of Rafael, a former inhabitant of an island of Arquipélago, in Porto Alegre/RS, considering his daily routine and his action and interpretational processes. The biographical approach used was developed by Gabriele Rosenthal, underppined, among others, by the interpretative perspective of Alfred Schütz. The reconstruction of the interview points out that the interpretation about his housing situation, and the living and relocating processes are complementary, conecting intersubjective experiences that, from Rafael’s biographical narrative, concern categories such as “family”, “territory”, “religion” and “work”.

Para tanto, afasta-se de conceitos normativos sobre habitação, e observa as experiências de vida de Rafael, um ex-morador de uma das ilhas do Bairro Aquipélago, em Porto Alegre/RS, considerando seu fazer cotidiano e seus processos de ação e interpretação. A abordagem biográfica utilizada foi desenvolvida por Gabriele Rosenthal, e está fundamentada, entre outros, na sociologia interpretativa de Alfred Schütz.
