Monitoring the use of social networks is a procedure that becomes more improved over time. Social studies also make use of the data collected to seek new ways of apprehending and understanding meanings and actions in contemporary society. This article addresses a sociological research work for behavior analysis in social networks developed in classes on media studies. This work reports the monitoring of the use of social networks by app-based workers of the Uber company through the use of the hashtag #Uber_brasil on Twitter. The results of the analyzes revealed functional practices in the use of networks and the appointment of topics of interest that may be useful to outline some perceptions about the profi le of this population. Added to this, it was possible to identify narratives and meanings attributed to collective discourses that can help to approach these workers in further research.
