Resumo: The Health and Safety at Work area has an indirect, but still fundamental, role to the emotional and financial balance of many families, since its action avoids occurrences that may occasion the removal of the individual at work by accidents on a temporary or even permanent. However, many managers have not yet taken note of the fact that this injury does not only affect the family of the estranged, but over time will also affect the company's results. Thus, the manager needs to be more and more aware and understand that the costs involved in Occupational Health and Safety are relevant and opportunity costs and need to be analyzed for more assertive decisions that do not generate long-term negative impacts on companies. Thus, the objective is to present the need to know the costs of health and safety at work in order to obtain an analysis with more effective results and thus enhance this tool to leverage the business. In the present article it was evidenced that the correct classification and analysis of the health and safety costs in the work contribute to the reduction of expenses and generate many benefits, thus maximizing the profit of the companies.

In the present article it was evidenced that the correct classification and analysis of the health and safety costs in the work contribute to the reduction of expenses and generate many benefits, thus maximizing the profit of the companies.A área de Saúde e Segurança no Trabalho tem papel indireto, mas, ainda assim, fundamental, ao equilíbrio emocional e financeiro de muitas famílias, pois sua atuação evita ocorrências que poderão ocasionar o afastamento do indivíduo no trabalho por acidentes de forma temporária ou até mesmo permanente. No entanto, muitos gestores, ainda não se atentaram para o fato que esse prejuízo não afeta apenas a família do afastado, mas com o tempo afetará também os resultados da empresa. Assim, o administrador precisa estar cada vez mais atento e entender que os custos envolvidos na Saúde e Segurança do Trabalho são custos relevantes e de oportunidade e precisam ser analisados para decisões mais assertivas que não gerem impactos negativos à longo prazo para as empresas.  Dessa forma, objetiva-se apresentar a necessidade de conhecer os custos de saúde e segurança no trabalho para se obter uma análise com resultados mais eficazes e assim potencializar essa ferramenta para alavancar os negócios.
