Resumo: The article explores recent publications on issues and debates related to the African Diaspora and their contributions to a profounder understanding of diasporic processes.  It also appoints to some tendencies of current historiographical approaches, including those, which rejects paradigms that obstruct and blur the comprehension of black experiences and, above all, prevent the latter from contributing to the development of the Brazilian society.
