Resumo: De Tienne characterized icons, indexes, and symbols as processes of form communication and suggested that symbolic form communication constitutes what Peirce called genuine information (Cognitio, São Paulo, v. 6, n. 2, p. 149-165, jul./dez. 2005). He mentioned our recent attempts to describe information as a meaningful semiotic process in the context of biological information systems. Here we summarize our view about Peirce’s concept of meaningful information process as a triadic-dependent relation of mediation connecting Sign, Object and Interpretant, in the context of semiotic systems, systems that produce, communicate, receive, compute, and interpret signs of different kinds.
