Resumo: | This work aims to present the project “Taking care of the caregivers” – for lay caregivers of patients with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, which still has no cure and it is worldwide little known and publicized. In recent years, the number of people diagnosed with cancer has grown considerably, according to the National Cancer Institute (INCA), the estimate for the three-year period from 2023 to 2025 is 704,000 new cases of cancer in Brazil, consequently the number of caregivers is also increasing. It is necessary to pay attention and take care of those who look after cancer patients. The purpose of the project “Taking care of the caregivers” is aimed at lay caregivers of multiple myeloma patients and its main objective is to contribute to improving the quality of life of myeloma patients. The proposal is based on the principle that the caregiver, being emotionally and physically well and with access to updated information about the disease, will be better able to take care of the patient, consequently having greater chances of a good quality of life for the patient |

Nos últimos anos vem crescendo consideravelmente os números de pessoas diagnosticadas com câncer, de acordo com o Instituto Nacional do Câncer (INCA), a estimativa para o triênio de 2023 a 2025, é de 704 mil casos novos de câncer no Brasil, consequentemente o número de cuidadores também está aumentando. É preciso ter atenção e cuidar daqueles que cuidam dos pacientes oncológicos. O propósito do projeto “Cuidar de Quem Cuida” é voltado para cuidadores leigos de pacientes de mieloma múltiplo e tem como objetivo principal contribuir com a melhora da qualidade de vida dos pacientes de mieloma.
