Resumo: This paper analyzes the current scenario of environmental education from a global perspective, considering the factors that may contribute to its evolution and the importance of the environmental studies for a change in the way man deals with the environment. It describes the beginning and evolution of environmental education and the impact of international matters on this subject. It also evaluates the relation between environmental law principles and the environmental education and emphasizes how the Kyoto Protocol contributed to the spread of environmental education. Finally, it points out some of the current factors that can influence the development of environmental education
