Relações raciais e reforma psiquiátrica: um estudo a partir da psicologia sócio-histórica

The history of Psychology in Brazil is circumscribed by a commitment to the project of the Brazilian elite, resulting as a science and profession for the differentiation, categorization and control of subjects. And this commitment is present mainly with regard to racial issues. This research aimed to analyze the meanings found by a white psychologist from a CAPS about psychiatric reform and racial relations. The Psychosocial Care Centers emerge from the necessary steps of the Psychiatric Reform movement, whose objective was to denounce the precariousness and violence present in psychiatric hospitals, guiding a reformulation of Brazilian psychiatric care and a new social place for madness. In order to achieve the objective, a prolonged, unstructured interview was carried out with a psychologist who works in a Street Clinic, linked to the CAPS-AD in the city of São Paulo. The interview was recorded, transcribed and later analyzed according to a literature review and inspired by the core of senses and meanings. From the interview, three nuclei of meaning were apprehended: 1) “Asylum is not just a physical place”; 2) “The ethnic-racial cut is experienced”; 3) “I have to ask myself”. Based on an interview with a participant, it was learned that the anti-asylum struggle is a disputed field, and it is important to rescue the logic in which it is opposed, the asylum logic. Racial issues were understood as experiential, related from the absence of discussion about racial issues in training, and the normativity attributed to the white race, the relationship with users and the current context of dismantling social policies. It was also apprehended about professional responsibility and ethical-political commitment. Finally, the importance of being guided by racial issues in the field of psychiatric reform and anti-asylum struggle is reaffirmed, recognizing that the absence of these is also an update of asylum practices, by producing lack of assistance to 70% of SUS users, consequently Also many of the users of the substitute services
