The question of the choice of this subject was based on the need for information, The purpose of this work is to find in Freud's texts, fundamentals that recognize reading as a subjective experience, addressing aspects of the involvement of the creator of psychoanalysis with fictional literature, the reader's encounter with the book, treating sublimation as one of the possible destinations in the act of reading. The enjoyment of a work of art finds a greater repertoire in the psychoanalytic literature than the aspects that specifically involve the act of reading. We seek to establish points of convergence between artistic fruition and the enjoyment of the literary work. At the beginning of our research, we imagined that sublimation might be associated with reading. This study gave us the possibility to examine that sublimation is one among several mechanisms that we can assume present in the act of reading. To speak about sublimation, we will go through several texts of Freud, since such concept is not defined in any specific text and has been pulverized by all Freudian work, from the first letters to Fliess (1897) to one of his final texts The malaise in civilization (1930)
