Resumo: The present study aimed to reflect on the role of the educator front manifestations of sexuality in childhood. We performed a literature search based mainly on studies of Sigmund Freud's infantile sexuality and secondary literature relevant to the topic, the Curriculum of Early Childhood Education and other texts in the field of education were also surveyed in order to guide the re-interpretation of data collected when carrying out work on the Thematic Unit "Caring and Educating: challenges and proposals", taught by Prof.. Dr. Maria Lucia de Almeida Melo, guiding this monograph, the 4th semester of the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Education PUCSP in 2010. The search revealed the difficulties of teachers in dealing with the issue of child sexuality, acting in a way that does not favor the development of the child. This monograph offers a space for reflection on possible actions of educators through a humanizing and emancipatory education that recognizes the manifestations of psychosexual child

Foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica baseada principalmente nos estudos de Sigmund Freud sobre a sexualidade infantil e em bibliografia secundária pertinente ao tema; os Parâmetros Curriculares da Educação Infantil e outros textos da área de Educação também foram pesquisados, a fim de orientar a re-interpretação de dados coletados quando da realização de trabalho desenvolvido na Unidade Temática “O cuidar e o Educar: propostas e desafios”, ministrada pela Profa. Dra. Maria Lúcia de Almeida Melo, orientadora desta monografia, no 4º semestre do curso de Pedagogia da Faculdade de Educação da PUCSP, em 2010. As fontes pesquisadas revelam as dificuldades dos educadores em lidar com a questão da sexualidade infantil, atuando de forma que não favorecem o desenvolvimento da criança.
