The presente work presents an analysis of the possibility of recognition of more than one parent or more than one mother and its legal effects. The objective is to carry out the study of the existence of several paternal-filial bonds for the recognition of multiparentality and its reflexes in relation to family law and inheritance laws. The fundamental right to family coexistence seeks to ensure the development of the personality, observing the integral protection, absolute priority and the best interest of the child and the adolescent, as well as highlighting the principle of responsible paternity. Biological and socio-affective affiliation and the possibility of the coexistence of biological and affective paternity were briefly discussed. The recognition of multiparentality was analyzed simultaneously or after the death of one of the parents. It was observed the recent decision of the Federal Supreme Court, which established legal theory determining that socio-affective paternity does not prevent the concomitant recognition of biological affiliation, with due legal effects. It was concluded by the possibility of recognition of multiparentality. Finally, the work presented the legal effects of multiparentality, observing the possible solutions with the application of the current norms, in the absence of specific legislation.
