Escolas sustentáveis: reiventando a escola e a humanidade

Resumo: | The development comprehension inherited by our ancestors and still valid in nowadays societies brought to humanity the dilemma of changing or becoming extinct. Instead of what was thought, planet Earth resources are finite and the creation of new economic development paradigms that respect earth and its ecosystems as well as future generations is, therefore, essential. This paradigm change goes mandatorily trough education and trough a school reinvention towards what is known as the Sustainable School. Starting from the author’s personal and professional experiences, as well as from an intensive literature research, the general goal was defined as the observation of environmental practices in a particular school, and specific goals were the reflection on the implications determined by unsustainable school and society models trough a comparison between consumerist life style of the contemporary society, earth unsustainability and the urgency to reinvent schools in a way to become sustainable schools and, consequently, a source of new society practices. The research found a real detachment between environmental practices developed in the observed school community and the commitment with education for sustainability, showing the urgent need to awake schools and educators to the commitment to school and humanity reinvention, trough the loving exchange that connects one being to another and remakes the life net. The Sustainable School is the dream schoolA compreensão de desenvolvimento herdada pelos nossos antepassados e ainda vigente nas sociedades atuais trouxe à humanidade o dilema de mudar ou estinguir-se. Ao contrário do que se pensava, os recursos do planeta Terra são finitos e, portanto, é imprescindível a invenção de novos paradigmas de desenvolvimento econômico que respeitem a terra e os seus ecossistemas, bem como as futuras gerações. Tal mudança de paradigma passa necessariamente pela educação e pela reinvenção da escola rumo ao que se compreende por Escola Sustentável. Partindo das vivências pessoais e profissionais da autora, bem como de intensa pesquisa bibliográfica, definiu-se como objetivo geral da pesquisa a observação da prática ambiental de determinada escola e, como objetivos específicos a reflexão sobre as implicações de modelos insustentáveis de escola e sociedade por meio de um paralelo entre o estilo de vida consumista da sociedade atual, a insustentabilidade planetária e a urgência de reinventar-se as escolas a fim de que se tornem escolas sustentáveis e, consequentemente, fonte de novas práticas na sociedade. A pesquisa constatou um real distanciamento entre a prática ambiental da comunidade escolar observada e o compromisso com uma educação para a sustentabilidade mostrando a urgência de se despertar nas escolas, educadores e educadoras o compromisso com a reinvenção da escola e da humanidade, por meio da troca amorosa que religa um ser ao outro ser e refaz a teia da vida.
