De um ponto de vista feminista: críticas e análises do Jornal Mulherio à representação das mulheres na mídia impressa e televisionada (jan. 1985 – mai. 1988)

During the 1970s and 1980s, feminism experienced a refreshing moment in Brazil, which expanded its operations by organizing discussion groups and intense theoretical production. The feminist newspaper Mulherio, inserted at this given context, was declared part of an alternative form of media, which highlighted its involvement with political and social issues (especially related to women) under a viewpoint engaged and committed. In its pages we find the value of the specificities of gender and subjectivity as a form of struggle for women's emancipation, through a specific approach: the publication of reviews and criticism to television programs, films, books, and clippings of articles published by the press. In this paper, we analyze how the Mulherio stands opposite the debates provoked by these other productions and investigate what are the concepts discussed in these criticisms and, in the same way, to understand the positioning of the newspaper against such problems. Twenty editions were selected for the survey of the material, footnotes and columns, which brought this feminist point of view. Permeated by themes such as prejudice, stereotypical female images, machismo, violence and sexuality; clippings from magazines and newspapers such as Playboy, Zero Hora, Jornal Nacional and Correio do Povo assured the Mulherio dense materials in which the criticisms were beyond the clash of theoretical problems brought by patriarchal thinking intrinsic to mainstream media
