Resumo: | This thesis subject is the narrative and production of meaning from a fraction of the city of São Paulo: Praça Roosevelt. Located in the heart of the biggest city in Brazil - from the non-square to Praça da Consolação, until becoming the Roosevelt as we know it today - it represents a challange for those who studies this mix of cultures system (GRUZINSKI, 2001), an amalgam of complexity and heterogeneity that puts in relation, day and night, many scructures and intensities, becoming a land that Pinhiero (2015) identifies as trans-baroque. This trans-baroque conditions constitutes themselves as an unfinished delimited area, composed by marquetries of foreign repertoires and intertwining (at the same time inclusive and translucent) of the voices of culture. Facing a myriad of possibilites for approaching Roosevelt square, the narratives takes its place and stablishes itself as the apex from which the reflections are developed. This choice leads this research to a qualitative tone in which it is interesting to capture what, for the Roosevelt square, converges and which of its places are in relation to other social spheres, leading us to be membrane-researchers-interpretative-translators of ways in a social, discursive and cultural life. In that matter, the first chapter - "Roosevelt: assombro, escombro, promessa, quimera" - a documental and bibliographical research, contemplates the film narrative as its center and the documentaries "Palco Roosevelt" (2007) and "Roosevelt: uma praça além do concreto" (2008) as its corpora. The main goal is to get to know the meanings offered by the audiovisual productions about the square and its biggest renovation. For such, the works are decomposed into textual, imagery, sound and situational aspects, and situations and authors such as Pinheiro, Salles, Delgado and Sousa Santos are brought to reflection. The second chapter - "Para além da concretude, quiproquós citadinos" - intends to get in contact with the square's most recent history, electing two audiovisual narratives conceived after its main reform, completed in 2012: "Praça Roosevelt" (2016 documentary) and "O estilo de vida no centro" (a webseries episode produced in 2018). The topic, based on a methodological strategy composed by documental and bibliographic research, articulates considerations from authors such as Certeau, Ferrara, Laplatine, Lotman and Martín-Barbero, Morin, Pinheiro and Salles. The third chapter - "Alegria, alegria: a mosca na sopa" - confirms the effort in search of discursive threads about Praça Roosevelt, having its specific aim of sharing - in both descriptive and interpretative ways - the impressions of the field, paying attention to institutionalized speeches and reports from the residents of the square. For this step, among the authors, we have Brockmeir, Harré, Certeau, Delgado e Elias. At the fourth chapter - “Andar com fé eu vou, que a fé não costuma faiá” - we are dedicating our attention to reflect about the production of meaning emanating from certain constuitive spheres of Praça Roosevelt. Here, we look specifically to the Nossa Senhora da Consolação church, based on fieldwork carried out during the first half of 2018. In this ethnographic inspiration, there was the opportunity, for example, to approach stories of the homeless a floating population, constitutive and constituent of Praça Roosevelt. In methodological terms, this step finds anchoring in the grounded theory and bibliographical and documentary research that the contact with the field provokes. Sousa Santos (2008) and Lotman (1996) are the bases tor detailing the reality, given their perspectives about inequality, exclusion and semiotic disarmament. Finally, the fifth chapter - "'Sãopauleando': prosa, verso, música e zine" - seeks to present the lessons learned with the young people that go to Praça Roosevelt from the perspective of their life stories. This topic shares conversations in the order people were known, no scripts were involved. It is about the narrative of those who, as the floating population of Roosevelt, put into circulation narratives about the square. In each person, a different world. In each one, a lot of Roosevelts. The qualitative perspective is transversal and the authors used here are García Canclini, Morin and Santos |

The qualitative perspective is transversal and the authors used here are García Canclini, Morin and SantosEsta tese tem como tema a narrativa e a produção de sentido a partir de uma fração da cidade de São Paulo: a Praça Roosevelt. Localizada no coração da urbe paulistana – da não-praça, à Praça da Consolação, até se tornar a Roosevelt dos dias de hoje –, representa desafio para quem se lança a estudar sistemas culturais mestiços (GRUZINSKI, 2001), amalgama de complexidade e de heterogeneidade que coloca em relação, diuturnamente, variadas estruturas e intensidades, constituindo o que Pinheiro (2015) denomina de terras transbarrocas. Na condição de transbarroca, configura-se, por assim dizer, como um riscado de chão inacabado, composto de marchetarias de repertórios alheios, de entrelaçamentos (ao mesmo tempo inclusivos e tradutórios) de vozes nas culturas. Frente a um sem-número de possibilidades de aproximação da Roosevelt, a narrativa toma a frente e estabelece-se como vértice a partir do qual são desenvolvidas as reflexões. Esta escolha envereda a investigação para um tom qualitativo no qual interessa apreender o que para a Praça conflui e o que dela coloca-se em relação a outras esferas sociais, tornando-nos pesquisador-membrana-tradutória-interpretativa de formas de vida social, discursiva e cultural. Neste sentido, o primeiro capítulo – Roosevelt: assombro, escombro, promessa, quimera –, contemplando pesquisas documental e bibliográfica, tem a narrativa fílmica como centro e os documentários Palco Roosevelt (2007) e Roosevelt: uma praça além do concreto (2008) como corpora. O objetivo é conhecer os sentidos oferecidos pelas produções audiovisuais sobre a praça antes de sua principal reforma. Para tal, as obras são decompostas em tessituras textuais, imagéticas, sonoras e situacionais e autores como Pinheiro, Salles, Delgado e Sousa Santos são trazidos à reflexão. O segundo capítulo – Para além da concretude, quiproquós citadinos – intenciona tomar contato com a história mais recente da Praça, elegendo para tal duas narrativas audiovisuais concebidas após a principal reforma da Roosevelt, finalizada em 2012: Praça Roosevelt (documentário de 2016) e O estilo de vida no centro (episódio de uma websérie de 2018). O tópico, pautando-se em uma estratégia metodológica composta por pesquisas documental e bibliográfica, articula considerações a partir de autores como Certeau, Ferrara, Laplantine, Lotman, Martín-Barbero, Morin, Pinheiro e Salles. Já o terceiro capítulo – Alegria, alegria: a mosca na sopa –, ratifica o esforço em busca de fios discursivos sobre a Praça Roosevelt, tendo o objetivo específico de partilhar – de modos ora descritivo e ora interpretativo – as impressões do campo advindas, direcionando atenção aos discursos institucionalizados e aos relatos de moradores. Para esta etapa, entre os autores mobilizados, estão: Brockmeir, Harré, Certeau, Delgado e Elias. Com o quarto capítulo – “Andar com fé eu vou, que a fé não costuma faiá” –, dedica-se atenção a refletir sobre a produção de sentido emanada por certas esferas constitutivas da Praça Roosevelt. O olhar, especificamente, volta-se à Igreja Nossa Senhora da Consolação a partir de empreitadas de campo realizadas ao longo do primeiro semestre de 2018. Nesta inspiração etnográfica, houve a oportunidade, por exemplo, de aproximação de histórias de moradores em situação de rua, população flutuante, constitutiva e constituinte da Praça Roosevelt. Em termos metodológicos, esta etapa encontra ancoragem na grounded theory e nas pesquisas bibliográfica e documental que o contato com o campo suscita. Sousa Santos (2008) e Lotman (1996) são bases para pormenorizar a realidade, dadas suas perspectivas sobre desigualdade, exclusão, desarme semiótico. Por fim, o quinto capítulo – “Sãopauleando”: prosa, verso, música e zine –, procura apresentar os aprendizados junto aos jovens frequentadores da Roosevelt a partir de suas histórias de vida. O tópico partilha conversas na ordem em que as pessoas foram sendo conhecidas, sem roteiro. Trata-se da narrativa daqueles que, como população flutuante da Roosevelt, colocam em circulação narrativas sobre a praça. Em cada pessoa, um mundo. Em cada uma, muitas Roosevelts. O viés qualitativo é transversal e os autores os autores utilizados são García Canclini, Morin e SantosCoordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/48038/Rosilene%20Moraes%20Alves%20Marcelino.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Comunicação e SemióticaPUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Filosofia, Comunicação, Letras e ArtesComunicação e culturaCidade e espaço urbanoPraça RooseveltCommunication and cultureCity and urban spaceCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::COMUNICACAOComunicação e cultura em filigranas: narrativas e produção de sentido sobre a Praça RooseveltCommunication and culture in filigrees: narratives and production of meaning on Roosevelt Squareinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTRosilene Moraes Alves Marcelino.pdf.txtRosilene Moraes Alves Marcelino.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain428684https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/21872/4/Rosilene%20Moraes%20Alves%20Marcelino.pdf.txt4d1a33e9f6c99bfa2204bc56698bc0f2MD54ORIGINALRosilene Moraes Alves Marcelino.pdfRosilene Moraes Alves Marcelino.pdfapplication/pdf6116568https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/21872/2/Rosilene%20Moraes%20Alves%20Marcelino.pdf09e61e1186f8d4a0f0a79d7085f03aeaMD52LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
