Crianças portadoras de ostomias digestivas baixas: uma revisão integrativa

Society is in search of perfection and any change in this perception is not well regarded. The child with a digestive ostomy breaks this rule of perfection and alters the family dynamics, in all its aspects. Objectives: prepare a review of ostomized children, identifying socio-demographic, epidemiological, nutritional, psychological characteristics, quality of life of these children and their families, and aspects related to their care, in addition to identifying gaps that need to be further studied. Methodology: integrative review with articles published between 2011-2021 in the main databases of indexed articles in the health area, using the keywords children and ostomies (in Portuguese, English and Spanish) and PICOT methodology for the selection of articles. The results were compiled and grouped by sub-items of article categorization (nursing care, epidemiology, social impact, family coping, psychological assistance, quality of life of parents and/or caregivers, quality of life of the ostomy patient, care school, rights provided for in legislation for the ostomate, nutritional profile). Results: 54 articles answered the selection and inclusion criteria. Analysis and considerations: there is an extreme shortage of literature on intestinal ostomies in pediatrics, showing us the need to expand studies in the area and update epidemiological data for more adequate and comprehensive care needs, objectives that include changes in the training process nursing professional and pedagogy a better and more related to the assistance to this group of patients. It is also necessary to apply laws that benefit ostomates as people with disabilities, improving their access to the public services
