O surdo nas escolas públicas regulares: o discurso dos professores sobre a inclusão social

The social inclusion is an action that contests the exclusion, normally linked to not advantaged social class, educational level not compatible with the age, physical disabled, aged people or racial minority groups, between others that do not have access to different educational opportunities. The social inclusion of the deaf in regular schools is an important subject since it is known that their inclusion on the regular system represents an individual process (to each student) and make it necessary an institutional reorganization (for the school). For this reason, our objective in this work was to verify if the deaf is really included and if, by the professor point of view, he is capable to work in a regular school setting with these deaf included students, dealing with all the linguistic and communication difficulties that can appear. The data was taken by semi-structural interviews with eleven professors of the public school network of São Paulo state. Ten of the teachers worked with included deaf students and one in the special class for the deaf. The research was done in order to understand better this professional work and the deaf socialization with the hearing students. We could verify in this study that on the social part it can be said that it is tried to have the deaf really included, but to what concerns to the educational area, the inclusion does not happen as the law demands because the professors do not receive adequate training to work with the deaf student on the regular class and the professors themselves do not believe to be prepared to this function
