Resumo: This research had as purpose studying, by the sociological perspective, the undergraduate teaching licensure student dropout, constructed around the Bourdieu’s theoretical reference. The research was performed in the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo, in São Paulo’s Campus. This study will not only contribute to the academic scientific knowledge, but also will improve the understanding about the reality and the reason for Brazilian’s student dropouts on undergraduate degree’s courses. The initial hypothesis is the dropout should be bigger in natural sciences when compared with social sciences, and it also should grow for socioeconomic disadvantaged students. To confirm that, at first, a data base was built based on the documents saved in the Institute’s academic system, both digital and physical, and filtering the time period including the newcomers students since 2015 first semester until the 2018 last semester. After that, it was identified the student’s socioeconomic profile composed by their age (during ingression), gender, race, private or public schooling, and it was correlated with the student’s dropout. At the end of this research, it was confirmed that the institute has a high level of student dropout, however, it has no difference between natural or social sciences, and it is more present on disadvantaged students: regarding their socioeconomic conditions, access to qualified basic education and in proper age. Another reason that composes the total dropouts are the cancel requests, which are made mainly by the best grades students, whom has the possibility to choose between other institutions and courses

O local escolhido para a pesquisa foi o Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo, Campus São Paulo. Acreditamos na relevância deste estudo para contribuir com o conhecimento científico acadêmico e melhorar a compreensão refletida sobre as razões da evasão de estudantes de graduação na realidade brasileira. Trabalhamos com a seguinte hipótese: a evasão de estudantes nos cursos de licenciatura é maior nos cursos das áreas de exatas em relação dos cursos de licenciatura da área de humanas, assim como é maior para estudantes de condição socioeconômica mais baixa. A coleta de dados baseou-se em fontes documentais registradas no sistema acadêmico eletrônico da instituição e complementando com os prontuários dos alunos, no arquivo físico da instituição, com um recorte temporal de ingressantes do primeiro semestre de 2015 e com conclusão prevista para o final de 2018. A partir destes dados, foi feito um esboço de identificação do perfil socioeconômico dos estudantes, como idade ao ingressar no curso, sexo, raça, origem de escola pública ou privada, e em seguida, análises da relação entre esses dados e a ocorrência da evasão. Ao final deste estudo foi possível confirmar os altos índices de evasão nos cursos de licenciatura do Campus São Paulo, sem, contudo, apresentar diferenças significativas entre as licenciaturas das áreas de humanas e exatas. Verificou-se que os estudantes que mais evadem ao longo do curso são os indivíduos pertencentes aos níveis sociais mais desfavorecidos: quanto às condições socioeconômicas, ao acesso à educação básica de qualidade e em idade escolar adequada.
