With the use of Modulated Frequency System (FM), the effects of noise and reverberation are minimized and the principal sound source is emphasized during communication. Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the clinical use and benefit of the FM systems according to the Audiologist and the user point of views. Method: subjects that participated in this study included 40 individuals: 10 hearing impaired users of the FM system (group A) and 30 audiologists (group B). All participants responded to a benefit questionnaire (QBMF) developed by the researchers, based on the Hearing Benefit SelfAssessment Scale (Phonak, 2006). The hearing impaired individuals underwent the Hearing Handicap Inventory (HHIA). Results: the data showed statistically significant differences for the acceptance and benefit of the FM system between the groups A and B, demonstrating diverse opinions by both groups. There was statistically significant correlation between the FM system referral and its benefit for the group B. This finding suggests that the more the professionals believe in the benefits the system offers, the more they refer FM system to their patients. There was no statistical significance in the correlation between hearing handicap and the benefit of the FM system for group A. Conclusion: The FM systems are thought by both, professionals and patients, as of great 2 contribution and benefit, mainly for the patients, in non-ideal situations of communication. Professionals are wished to gain more knowledge on this subject, in order to fully understand the clinical use of FM systems and assess patients with adequate counseling
