To redeem the roots and overcomes of the Punk Movement in Brazil and to specify the most important and popular strands: Punk 77, Hardcore, Oi!, Crossover, Straight Edge, Grunge and Poppy Punk. To show how Punk Rock remains for nearly four decades, pointing the most varied forms by which this underculture was inserted, developed and individualized in the country, above all in peripheral regions, where the Movement, due to its contesting and aggressive character, became entrenched and conquered numberless followers. In order to show the major disharmony between the most distinct variations of Punk Rock, individual studies will be held; these studies will have the purpose of evidencing how it arrived and developed itself in Brazil, indicating the contradictions and inter-relations between ‘tribes’ formed from this musical style. Another purpose of this paper is to verify if the Movement’s political and contesting origin still is conducted in a faithful manner in the last decades. In addition to the foregoing situations, this Course Conclusion Paper aims at examining and researching in which manner being inserted in such Movement may influence and may lead to the formation of identities, behaviors, and cultures, clarifying the particularities of this ‘counterculture’ that became evident mainly in the 1970’s and 1980’s. In this sense, in a historical summary, is of major importance the study on how this process was due in Punk’s original countries, United Stated and England
