The present work aims to analyze the 34th São Paulo Art Biennial, held in 2021, entitled Faz escuro mas eu canto. Contextualizing its sociopolitical aspects from 2013 until 2021. Searching to reflect how this edition is influenced by its historical context. Aiming to construe and discuss Jaider Esbell's work entitled Entidades (2021) and the intervention of the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) in the Daniel de Paula, Marissa Lee Benedict and David Rueter's art installation Deposição (2018). The work has literature review as its methodology, having the 34th São Paulo Art Biennial catalog as a main reference, where it's possible to get the main ideas of the curatorial theme and the works displayed. Interviews with the curators were also used. For the review of the exhibition, news articles about the historical and sociopolitical context of Brazil between the years of 2013 and 2021 were also used. Newspaper reviews and the artists' own accounts were used for the critical analysis of the artists and works chosen. The artworks selected enable the debate concerning the respect for the fight for land, the right to life and the claim to cultural and artistic values, setting the antagonistic discourse in place of the hegemonic. Demonstrating the potential of art and the cultural institution as well as the 34th edition of the Biennial of being pedagogical spaces of dialogue and contribution for political discussions
