In 2013 were recalled the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council (1962- 1965), called by Pope John XXIII .In historical importance, the Second Vatican Council is considered to many historians the greatest event in the life of the Church. The purpose of this research is to know the "Church of the Poor" through the memories of the bishop Dom Helder Camara. The Brazilian bishop Helder Camara was a person of religious who helped create the event, the group that became known as "The Church of the Poor". Dom Helder was one of the organizers so that the documents of the Church and its practice in an attempt to make it "option for the poor." Always keeps its validity, especially to America, that Pope John XXIII, who declared that Church, and Church of all, especially the Church wants to be poor.
