Sensível como resistência: xamanismo yanomami e novas perspectivas de futuro

It is undeniable that the destruction of indigenous people has been plaguing the Brazilian reality since the beginnings of the country. With a colonial past and later, with the intensification of the monetary system, violence against indigenous people and their conceptions of nature has been expanding exponentially. Continuing the scientific research I completed in 2022, under the guidance of Mariza Martins Furquim Werneck, with the theme: The role of Dreams in Yanomami Shamanism: an interpretation of “The Falling Sky”, this present dissertation aims to reconnect with a different way of seeing the world and bring new perspectives of a less exploitative and individualized future, through the yanomami worldview and a gaze towards the world and, specifically, the surrounding nature; in a more sensitive manner, using aspects of sensitivity, dreams, shamanism and myth as foundations for social and individual transformations. In understanding the exploitative western model, it becomes necessary to reclaim ancestral wisdom, in this case specifically the yanomami worldview, primarily based on the books The Falling Sky and The Spirit of the Forest by Davi Kopenawa and Bruce Albert. This is to presente the need to urgently recognize ourselves as integral parts of nature. The potency of dreams – both in their literal and figurative sense – must be regained and increasingly utilize sensitivity and indigenous cosmologies focused on collectivity and uniqueness as forms of resistance, as Ailton Krenak puts it in his work Ancestral Future: “If there is a future to be considered, that future is ancestral.” (KRENAK,2022, p.11)
