The central objective of this paper is to demonstrate the historical evolution of the Brazilian system of government, chosen by the population in 1993, and how the political conjuncture resulted in its current crisis. By introducing relevant terms of the General Theory of Law and by the theoretical explanation of the two main contemporary Systems of Government, the Brazilian Presidentialism will be analyzed, mainly concerning the "coalition presidentialism". The central objective of the research is to understand how these coalitions have affected the modern political system in Brazil, making more recurrent the use of the impeachment procedure as a tool to break mandates. In addition, there will be the consideration of possible changes in the national format of separation of functions among Powers, leading to the conclusion about the constitutional possibility of any change
