Cuidados de enfermagem no manejo terapêutico do recém-nascido em situação de dor e desconforto

Introduction: Studies have shown that newborns have functional and neurochemical components related to pain response, even though the maturation of the nervous system occurs during postnatal life. When the newborn presents pain, the signals emitted are through behavior and physiological changes, which may be: crying, muscle stiffness, facial expression and changes in sleep, feeding, heart rate and respiratory rate, as well as oxygen saturation and even blood pressure. Objective: To identify the scales for assessing pain and discomfort in newborns applied by the nursing team. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data collection occurred in the neonatal icu and pediatrics sectors of the Santa Lucinda Hospital located in Sorocaba - SP. The research participants were 24 nursing professionals. The data collection instrument was delivered to the respondents and the data were analyzed according to Bardin's content analysis. Results: The categories elaborated were the following categories: Identification of pain and discomfort of the newborn; which, through the reports of the respondents, it was found that during the care process the nursing team identifies the pain of newborns through signs and behaviors presented during painful procedures. Another category was the use of nonpharmacological measures before and after painful procedures; in which the nursing team uses non-pharmacological measures in newborns before and after painful procedures to prevent and alleviate the pain of neonates. And the other category was the Training for the management of newborn pain; fhi reported through the research by most professionals who do not have any type of training or specific knowledge for the treatment of the discomforts and pain of newborns, the lack of training of the nursing team, thus promoting in-service training as a strategy. Conclusion: The study made it possible to know the therapeutic and non-pharmacological management used by the nursing team before and after painful procedures to relieve the pain of the newborn in a neonatal unit, being the containment, non-nutritive suction, glucose at 25%, the bath, breastfeeding between the mother and the newborn
