The main objective of this work is to demonstrate the relationship between the creation of Law 11.340/06, commonly known as "Maria da Penha", and Modern Victimology, which emerged in the post-World War II period. The text ranges from a reflection on the treatment given to the victim during different historical periods, going through the moment of the emergence of that law, addressing the reasons for its creation, and, still, a relevant aside on the Emergency Protective Measures, a basic instrument of assurance. for victims of domestic and family violence, to the central point of the entire research, which is the understanding of the link between the legal text and the science of Victimology
