Resumo: | The present work sought to list the reasons alleged by the students who left their courses, in order to understand the reasons that led them to give up. For that end, the Professional Technical Education, educational level responsible for the qualification focused on the professions, was selected for the study. The data collection took place at the Santa Ifigênia State Technical School (ETEC), located in the central region of São Paulo, created to offer courses in the professional axis of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure, which has a high dropout rate, reaching 61% of students evaded in 2017. The school forms completed by students at the time of dropout were used as a data collection instrument. In addition interviews were conducted with two former students of the referred school, one graduate and one dropout, in order to present the experiences as students in the school environment. In order to visualize and understand the reasons given by the students regarding their dropout, six axes were organized distributed by intrinsic and extrinsic questions to the school, as follows: personal factors, academic factors, interpersonal relationships, employment factors, school location, and student contact. It is concluded that the reasons given by students are part of a process that may involve internal and external factors, being the external ones most difficult to control. The school dropout is part of the constitution of the school, requiring actions that mobilize the school unit as a whole, students, teachers, managers and employees, considering that all individuals are human beings, consisting of feelings, emotions and knowledge |

Para tal, a Educação Profissional Técnica, nível educacional responsável pela qualificação voltada às profissões, foi selecionada para o estudo. O levantamento de dados ocorreu na Escola Técnica Estadual (ETEC) Santa Ifigênia, localizada na região central da cidade de São Paulo, criada para a oferta de cursos do eixo profissional de Turismo, Hospitalidade e Lazer, que apresenta uma alta taxa de evasão, chegando a 61% de alunos evadidos no ano de 2017. Como instrumento de coleta de dados foram utilizadas as fichas pertencentes à escola, preenchidas pelos alunos no momento da evasão. Ademais foram realizadas entrevistas com dois ex-alunos da referida escola, sendo um concluinte e um desistente, a fim de apresentar as vivências enquanto alunos no ambiente escolar. Para visualizar e entender os motivos alegados pelos alunos perante sua desistência foram organizados seis eixos distribuídos por questões intrínsecas e extrínsecas à escola, da seguinte forma: fatores pessoais, fatores acadêmicos, relações interpessoais, fatores empregatícios, localização escolar e contato com o discente. Conclui-se assim que as razões alegadas pelos alunos são parte de um processo que pode envolver fatores internos e externos a escola, os externos mais difíceis de serem controlados.
