Resumo: | This thesis aimed to respond to what justifies a demand for educational public policies that met the diversity expressed mainly in public schools and which is impacted by recent immigration flows in the country. For this, it was necessary to map the current presence of immigrant students in Brazil by surveying the 2016 and 2017 school census data, showing the distribution of immigrant students in each state and Brazilian region, according to nationality, sex, age group age, color / race and type of school dependency. Concomitantly, a bibliographic research was carried out with a survey of some recent researches that showed the problems that affected the immigrant population in Brazil. Finally, interviews were conducted with two groups of migrants, the first with immigrants in Brazil with children at school and the second with Brazilian immigrants, with children studying abroad. Based on this information, it was possible to answer the research problem, as well as to find some more findings that surprised the researcher, such as the fact that the majority of immigrants in Brazil are white, although most problems affect black, mixed-race students. and indigenous. It was also analyzed what developed countries have done to solve problems arising from diversity with the large presence of immigrants and the conclusion was reached that there are proposals for paths to be taken by educational institutions to guarantee equal opportunities for these different individuals in same society, and these paths go through multicultural education |

Para isso foi necessário fazer um mapeamento da atual presença de alunos imigrantes no Brasil por meio do levantamento dos dados do censo escolar de 2016 e 2017, apresentando a distribuição dos alunos imigrantes em cada Estado e região brasileira, de acordo com nacionalidade, sexo, faixa etária, cor/raça e tipo de dependência escolar. Concomitantemente foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica com levantamento de algumas pesquisas recentes que mostraram os problemas que acometem a população imigrante no Brasil. E por último foram realizadas entrevistas com dois grupos de migrantes, o primeiro de imigrantes no território brasileiro com filhos na escola e o segundo com brasileiros emigrados, com filhos estudando no exterior. Com base nessas informações foi possível responder ao problema da pesquisa, bem como encontrar alguns achados a mais que surpreenderam o pesquisador, como o fato de a maior parte dos imigrantes no Brasil ser de cor branca, embora a maioria dos problemas acometam os alunos de cor preta, parda e indígena.
