A aplicação prática desta máquina é possibilitar processos de comunicação sensório-motora entre homem-homem e homem-máquina, especificamente a criação e execução de movimentos voluntários e involuntários.A importância dessa pesquisa reside em promover outro canal de comunicação que transpõe os âmbitos verbal e visual. Esse processo compreende as seguintes operações: aquisição dos movimentos (ou do pensamento de um movimento) do usuário do computador; codificação desses movimentos em estímulos sensório-motores e transmissão desses estímulos para o corpo do mesmo ou de outro interator. Para isso, esse computador é constituído por uma superfície inteligente que envolve: eletrodos para a captura de sinais mioelétricos e de sinais cerebrais do usuário; eletrodos para a estimulação elétrica neuromuscular do interator e dois sistemas tecnológicos de comunicação - um associativo e outro evolutivo. Tal superfície muda de cor e de forma, co-evoluíndo com quem a veste durante o processo de interação entre ambos. Projetado para o uso de um ou dois indivíduos, o computador opera esse processo de comunicação entre pessoas próximas ou fisicamente distantes. Em ambos casos os movimentos (ou pensamentos) são enviados de um corpo a outro por rede. Quando o sistema tecnológico operante é associativo, o pensamento ou o próprio movimento realizado pelo usuário do computador é transmitido para que o mesmo interator ou outro conectado à rede sinta-o como estímulos sensório-motores e execute-o integralmente. Ou seja, nessa instância esse computador atua como um dispositivo de comunicação sensório-motora projetado especialmente para a troca de afeto entre indivíduos geograficamente separados. Já na instância evolutiva, a informação (movimento ou pensamento) realizada pelo usuário do computador é codificada, aprendida e evoluída no sistema tecnológico. Assim, os estímulos a serem recebidos e executados como movimentos diferem da informação inicial introduzida no sistema, pois passa a exibir novos padrões que caracterizam o processo co-autoral entre homem-máquina. Nesse modo, o computador atua como um dispositivo para a comunicação de movimentos através de um processo criativo e colaborativo entre a inteligência do homem e da máquina.
