Resumo: | The work aims to identify the experiences of men and women lived from the aging body. The methodology consisted of semi-structured interviews with elderly / those between the age group 65-77 years in the city of Cuiabá (MT), Brazil. As results, it was found that the experiences of men during youth were linked to a body built for masculinity attributes such as strength, virility and work; while women remembered is a body that "weighed less" and which was later modified by experience of biological and social motherhood. In this sense, men and women were significantly influenced by traditional gender representations. Representations, those who collaborate so that the techniques learned / incorporated during the aging process to hold discussions with the gender representation they had during their socialization processes. |

Gender and Aging: Reflections on the body agedGênero e Envelhecimento: reflexões sobre o corpo que envelheceuAgingBodyGender.EnvelhecimentoCorpoGênero.The work aims to identify the experiences of men and women lived from the aging body. In this sense, men and women were significantly influenced by traditional gender representations. Representations, those who collaborate so that the techniques learned / incorporated during the aging process to hold discussions with the gender representation they had during their socialization processes.
