Resumo: This work aims to understand the use of Facebook digital media during the experience of illness, hospitalization and death. It is a qualitative research, through of Virtual Ethnography and narrative analysis. This practice contributed to: facilitate communication with family and friends; to reduce loneliness and isolation; strengthen bonds of friendship; recognize the virtual social network as a space for the constitution of a network of support and communication; demystify the use of social networks as exclusive spaces for leisure and entertainment.

Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, por medio de la Etnografía Virtual y análisis narrativo. Esta práctica contribuyó a: facilitar la comunicación con familiares y amigos; disminuir la soledad y el aislamiento; fortalecer lazos de amistad; reconocer la red social virtual como un espacio para la constitución de redes de apoyo y comunicación; desmitificar el uso de redes sociales como espacios exclusivos para el ocio y el entretenimiento. Este trabalho objetiva compreender a utilização da mídia digital Facebook durante a experiência de adoecimento, hospitalização e morte. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, por meio da Etnografia Virtual e análise narrativa.
