Advanced Instrumental Activities of Daily Living and the individuation process of elderly centenarians in Florianópolis, SC

Resumo: This study aims to identify the Advanced Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (AIADL), which are present in the choices and activities of elderly centenarians living in the mesoregion of the Greater Florianópolis Area, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. It also aims to show AIADL as mediators of life habits, which can expand the individuation process among elderly centenarians. This study is a descriptive and qualitative research and used as a basis the question “What is your daily life like at the age of 100 or older?”. Based on the analysis of the responses from eight (8) subjects, we observed that the leisure activities, daily tasks and social roles experienced by elderly centenarians during their lifetime influence their choices and their satisfaction with the activities they perform in their present everyday life. The subjects highlighted the fact that, through advanced instrumental activities, they seek capacity and power towards individuation. To them, the desire of living a full life through the diversity of ageing is to continue desiring with an opinion and willingness to make decisions about their own life.

To them, the desire of living a full life through the diversity of ageing is to continue desiring with an opinion and willingness to make decisions about their own life. Este estudio tiene como objetivo identificar las Actividades Avanzadas de la Vida Diaria (AADL's) presentes en las elecciones y acciones de los centenarios en la mesorregión del Gran Florianópolis, estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, y mostrar a las AAVD's como mediadoras de hábitos de vida, que puede ampliar el proceso de individuación en ancianos centenarios. Este es un estudio descriptivo; cualitativo, basado en la pregunta: “¿Cómo es tu vida diaria hoy, a los 100 años o más?”. A partir del análisis de los discursos de los ocho (08) entrevistados, se observó que las actividades de ocio, las tareas diarias y los roles sociales vividos durante el transcurso de la vida de las personas mayores centenarias, influyen en sus elecciones y satisfacción con las actividades adoptadas en la vida diaria actual. Se consideró que el sujeto explica, a través de actividades avanzadas, su búsqueda de capacidad y potencia de individuación, pues tener una vida plena en la diversidad de la vejez es seguir deseando, con opinión y disposición para elegir las acciones de su vida.Este estudo tem como objetivos identificar as Atividades Avançadas de Vida Diária (AAVD’s) presentes nas escolhas e nas ações de idosos centenários da mesorregião da grande Florianópolis, estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, e mostrar as AAVD’s como mediadoras de hábitos de vida, que podem ampliar o processo de individuação em idosos centenários. Trata-se de um estudo do tipo descritivo; qualitativo, tendo como base a questão: “Como é seu cotidiano, atualmente, aos 100 anos ou mais de idade?”. Da análise das falas dos oito (08) entrevistados, observou-se que as atividades de lazer, tarefas diárias, e papéis sociais vividos durante o curso de vida dos idosos centenários, influenciam suas escolhas e satisfação com as atividades adotadas no cotidiano atual.
