Resumo: This article aims to investigate how elderly women receive and provide social support in their formal and informal networks. This is a qualitative-exploratory study with 10 elderly women. Semi-structured interviews were carried out. The most significant forms of support mentioned were instrumental and material, followed by the affective and the emotional.

Se trata de una investigación exploratoria cualitativa, con diez mujeres mayores. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas. Las formas de apoyo más significativas mencionadas fueron instrumentales y materiales, seguidas del apoyo afectivo y emocional. Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar como mulheres idosas recebem e fornecem apoio social em suas redes de convivência formal e informal. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativo-exploratória, com dez mulheres idosas. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas.
