Resumo: The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Common Mental Disorder (CMD) and to verify its association with functional disability in the elderly. Cross-sectional study with application of the instruments: sociodemographic, health, behavioral data, Self-Reporting Questionnaire, Katz Index and Lawton and Brody Scale. The prevalence of CMD was 37.2% and it was found to be associated with sex, health perception, nervous system disease and functional disability in BADL and IADL.

Estudio transversal, con aplicación de los instrumentos: datos sociodemográficos, de salud, comportamentales, Cuestionario Self-Reporting, Índice de Katz y Escala de Lawton y Brody. La prevalencia del TMC fue del 37,2% y se verificó su asociación con el sexo, la autopercepción de salud, enfermedad del sistema nervioso y la discapacidad funcional en las ABVD y AIVD  Objetivou-se investigar a prevalência de Transtorno Mental Comum (TMC) e verificar sua associação com a incapacidade funcional em idosos. Estudo transversal, com aplicação dos instrumentos: dados sociodemográficos, de saúde e comportamentais, Self-Reporting Questionnaire, Índice de Katz e Escala de Lawton e Brody.
