Resumo: With a emphasis on intergenerational conflicts in the family, this qualitative, narrative review study aimed to describe its relationship with the mental health of the elderly, based on the solidarity-conflict and ambivalence paradigms. This analysis highlights the importance of the emotional quality of relationships, the impact of conflicts on mental illness and suffering, and the challenges and strategies for facing them, by families and professionals in the field of Gerontology.Keywords: Intergenerational Relations; Mental Health; Elderly.

Este análisis destaca la importancia de la calidad emocional de las relaciones, el impacto de los conflictos sobre la enfermedad y el sufrimiento mental, y los desafíos y estrategias para su afrontamiento, por parte de las familias y los profesionales del campo de la Gerontología.Palabras clave: Relaciones Intergeneracionales; Salud Mental; Anciano.Os conflitos intergeracionais na família receberam ênfase neste estudo qualitativo, de revisão narrativa, que objetivou descrever a sua relação com a saúde mental do idoso, fundamentada nos paradigmas de solidariedade-conflito e ambivalência.
