Resumo: Old age presents itself as a concept composed of complexities and multidimensionalities in its social process. However, it is understood that this phase is not achievable for everyone in the face of social, political, economic, cultural crossings, among others that go together with its construction. Thus, bringing reflections on the perceptions of indigenous old age in the scientific field, basing our analysis on the critical theory of recognition supported by Nancy Fraser's studies aligned with the dialectical dimension (historical-dialectical materialism), is to make an incursion that has as a methodological proposal the state of art. As a result of this path, it is observed that indigenous old age is discussed under an epistemological and epidemiological perspective, being denied in its entirety.
