Memories and stories: the experience of temporality in the construction of being a transvestite

Resumo: The objective of this article is to investigate how professional transvestites and former sex professionals build temporal boundaries in their life trajectories. To achieve this goal we interviewed ten transvestites aged between 24 and 62 years residing in the State of Minas Gerais-Brazil. From the analysis of the interviews we identified three categories: 1. During childhood / youth; 2. Investing in the body; 3. Stories of the Streets. The results suggest that public policies should observe how transvestites deal with generational differences and the aging in order to ensure their fundamental rights.

A fin de alcanzar este objetivo, entrevistamos diez travestis con edades entre 24 y 62 años, residentes en el interior del Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. A partir de las entrevistas, llegamos a tres categorías: 1. En los tiempos de la infancia / juventud; 2. Invirtiendo en el cuerpo; 3. Historias de la pista. Los resultados sugieren que las políticas públicas deben observar cómo las travestis tratan las diferencias generacionales y el envejecimiento con el fin de garantizarles derechos fundamentales. O objetivo deste artigo é investigar como travestis profissionais e ex-profissionais do sexo constroem as demarcações temporais em suas trajetórias de vida. A fim de alcançar este objetivo, entrevistamos dez travestis com idades entre 24 e 62 anos, residentes no interior do Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. A partir das entrevistas, chegamos a três categorias: 1. Nos tempos da infância / juventude; 2. Investindo no corpo; 3.
