Resumo: The article shows the trajectory of the GPPRA – Research Group on Protestantism, Art and Religion of the Graduate Department of Religious Studies of PUC Minas and its contribution to the dialogue between literature and theology in Brazil. The group was organized in 2018, and one of its axes of academic research is the dialogue between literature and both religious studies and theology. The article shows a differentiated aspect of its activities, viz., the “preferential option” (but absolutely not exclusive) for fantastic literature and fantasy literature as its focus of research. The article shows also the main theoretical references for literary hermeneutics and for the dialogue between literature and religious studies and theology that have been used in the research done by the group and for the analysis of the authors to whom the group gives special attention, viz, J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis.
