Resumo: The article examines the conformation of Brazilian archival terminology between the years 1972 and 2005 analyzing, especially, the process of elaborating the Dicionário de terminologia arquivística, by Camargo and Bellotto (1996), and the Dicionário brasileiro de terminologia arquivística (Dibrate), by Arquivo Nacional (2005). It is observed that both were fundamental to the structuring of Brazilian archival terminology, but they need efforts aimed at constant updating.
