Resumo: The article analyzes how the Almanaque de Pelotas addressed the Centenary of Brazil’s political Independence in the 1922 and 1923 editions. It focuses on the writers’ choices regarding the highlights given both to the city of Pelotas (RS), in a perspective of its insertion in the national urban modernity, and to the celebrations of the event from different image constructions of d.
