Resumo: In the colonial Amazon period, rivers were the paths par excellence. They connected villages and places via canoes. Specific dynamics in the region implied the indispensable participation of indigenous people such as rowers, pilots, warriors and informants. This text seeks to understand, from the analysis of several sources, the indigenous protagonism in the canoes of commerce and war in the Amazon of the 18th century. Este texto busca comprender, a partir del análisis de diversas fuentes, el protagonismo indígena en las canoas del comercio y la guerra en la Amazonía del siglo XVIII.
