Resumo: | The article deals with an experience of research and writing in History and Philosophy of education, which took place in the 1960s and 1970s at the Universidade de São Paulo and Institutos Isolados de Ensino Superior under the guidance of Laerte Ramos de Carvalho. This experience, which created a discernible tradition in the field of historiographical studies of Brazilian education, defined its themes in the light of educational and political problems of its time, as well as of philosophical conceptions, theories of history, epistemological and disciplinary partitions that formed the model of higher education of that time. By the way it has been organized to propose, produce and disseminate the writing of history, this generation marked this field in formation with particular characteristics, which include the preference for certain types of sources, ways to periodize and narrate historical events. The proposed historiographical analysis combines textual and contextual understanding of this tradition, considering the institutional and disciplinary conditions, as well as the social, intellectual and political ambience in which these narratives were produced. |

Esta experiencia, que creó una discernible tradición en el campo de los estudios historiográficos de la educación brasileña, definió sus temas a la luz de problemas educativos y políticos de su tiempo, así como de concepciones filosóficas, teorías de la historia, particiones epistemológicas y disciplinares que entonces configuraban el modelo universitario. Por el modo en que se organizó para proponer, producir y divulgar la escritura de la historia, esa generación marcó este campo en formación con características particulares, que incluyen la preferencia por determinados tipos de fuentes, modos de periodizar y narrar los eventos históricos. El análisis historiográfico propuesto combina la comprensión textual y contextual de esta tradición, considerando las condiciones institucionales y disciplinarias, así como el entorno social, intelectual y político en que esas narrativas fueron producidas.: O artigo trata de uma experiência de pesquisa e escrita de história e filosofia da educação, que nos anos 1960 e 1970 tomou lugar na Universidade de São Paulo e nos Institutos Isolados de Ensino Superior, sob a orientação de Laerte Ramos de Carvalho. Esta experiência, que criou uma discernível tradição no campo de estudos historiográficos da educação brasileira, definiu seus temas à luz de problemas educacionais e políticos de seu tempo, assim como de concepções filosóficas, teorias da história, partições epistemológicas e disciplinares que então configuravam o modelo universitário. Pelo modo como se organizou para propor, produzir e divulgar a escrita da história, essa geração marcou esse campo em formação com características particulares, que incluem a preferência por determinados tipos de fontes, modos de periodizar e narrar os eventos históricos.
