Favelas in Brazilian Documentaries: The participation of the local community in the representation of reality

Resumo: The documentary film can be considered the essence of cinema. As Penafria (1999) points out, the first moving images were intended only to record the events of life. The documentary assumes anthropological importance and relevance in social and cultural dimension, by the exposure and representation of distinct realities and by the reflection on the construction of identities about territories and the bodies that inhabit them. This research was developed with the objective of investigating ten documentaries produced between 2010 and 2016, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), about the theme "favelas", in order to develop a reflection and categorical analysis about the relevant aspects of each audiovisual production and discuss approaches that represent the reality of these communities and their residents. The analysis allowed promoting reflection about real actors in their cultural contexts, the very representations of reality and the construction of identities. The films show the relationship of the protagonists with the films, their participation in the the relationship between man and territory, the experiences of the residents and their multiple performances. The participatory nature of the productions allows us to reflect on the self-representation of the residents of the "favelas" and on the documentary as an instrument [...].

Como señala Penafria (1999), las primeras imágenes en movimiento sólo pretendían registrar los acontecimientos de la vida. El documental asume importancia y relevancia antropológica en la dimensión social y cultural, por la exposición y representación de realidades distintas y por la reflexión sobre la construcción de identidades sobre los territorios y los cuerpos que los habitan. Esta investigación se desarrolló con el objetivo de investigar diez documentales producidos entre 2010 y 2016, en Río de Janeiro (Brasil), sobre el tema "favelas", para desarrollar una reflexión y análisis categórico sobre los aspectos relevantes de cada producción audiovisual y discutir enfoques que representen la realidad de estas comunidades y sus residentes. El análisis permitió promover la reflexión sobre los actores reales en sus contextos culturales, las propias representaciones de la realidad y la construcción de las identidades. Las películas muestran la relación de los protagonistas con las películas, su participación en la la relación entre el hombre y el territorio, las experiencias de los residentes y sus múltiples actuaciones. Comme le souligne Penafria (1999), les premières images en mouvement n'avaient pour but que d'enregistrer les événements de la vie. Le documentaire revêt une importance et une pertinence anthropologiques dans la dimension sociale et culturelle, par l'exposition et la représentation de réalités distinctes et par la réflexion sur la construction d'identités sur les territoires et les corps qui les habitent. Cette recherche a été développée avec l'objectif d'enquêter sur dix documentaires produits entre 2010 et 2016, à Rio de Janeiro (Brésil), sur le thème des "favelas", afin de développer une réflexion et une analyse catégorielle sur les aspects pertinents de chaque production audiovisuelle et de discuter des approches qui représentent la réalité de ces communautés et de leurs résidents. L'analyse a permis de promouvoir une réflexion sur les acteurs réels dans leurs contextes culturels, les représentations mêmes de la réalité et la construction des identités. Les films montrent la relation des protagonistes avec les films, leur participation à la la relation entre l'homme et le territoire, les expériences des résidents et leurs multiples représentations.
