A proteção das vítimas salienta-se entre as preocupações do Estado, que investe em estruturas de apoio no sentido de assegurar a segurança das vítimas, o seu bem-estar e de promover a sua autonomia. O presente trabalho pretende contribuir para uma melhor compreensão do fenómeno de violência doméstica, em particular da violência contra as mulheres no âmbito das relações conjugais (e/ou para conjugais) e uma compreensão das medidas de apoio às vítimas que têm sido adotadas no âmbito nacional, designadamente as Casas Abrigo. A metodologia adotada para a investigação assenta na combinação de métodos qualitativos, como sejam a análise de informação de registos de imagem através da observação (reportagens televisivas e um documentário sobre mulheres residentes em Casas Abrigo) e análise de conteúdo e a análise documental. Pretende-se com os resultados alcançados compreender a perceção que a vítima de violência conjugal tem relativamente à Casa Abrigo e a esta etapa pela qual passa o seu processo de mudança, como contributo para entender até que ponto esta medida se afigura como adequada. Este estudo evidencia que o processo de rutura com a relação violenta, a procura de apoios por parte da vítima e o acolhimento em Casa Abrigo é complexo. Levantam-se questões relativas à falta de informação dos apoios por parte das vítimas, questiona-se a eficácia dos mesmos [apoios] ao nível da reinserção das vítimas e por outro lado levanta-se a questão relativamente à eficácia e sustentabilidade desta medida. É neste contexto que se afigura oportuna uma reflexão sobre a pertinência de uma nova missão para as Casas Abrigo, enquadrada nas políticas de reabilitação do agressor - A Casa Abrigo enquanto resposta institucional promotora de reabilitação do agressor.Domestic violence has more and more deserved the attention of public powers, in the definition of politics to combat the phenomena. The victim’s protection stands out amongst the State concerns, which invests in creating support structures, in order to assure the security of victims, their well-being, as well as promoting their autonomy. This present work pretends to contribute to a better understanding of the domestic violence phenomena, particularly that of violence against women in the context of marital relationships (and / or extra-marital) and an understanding of victim support measures, which have been adopted within the national context, namely Shelter Homes. The methodology adopted for investigation rests in the combination of qualitative methods, such as the analysis of information of image registration by means of observation (television reports and a documentary about women that are residents in Shelter Homes) and content analysis and documental analysis. With the results that are achieved, it is pretended to understand the perception the marital domestic violence victim has relative to the Shelter Home and to this stage whereby the victim goes through the change process, as a contribution to understand to what extent this measure is seen to be adequate. This study makes it evident that the rupture process with the violent relationship, the search for support on part of the victim and the accommodation in Shelter Homes is a complex process. Issues are raised by the victim relative to the lack of information concerning these supports, the effectiveness of these supports are questioned as regards the reintegration of the victims, and on the other hand, the issue is raised regarding the effectiveness and sustainability of this measure.
