Resumo: This dissertation intends to present an investigation about the problem that is an abandoned building, built in the late eighties, in the center of the parish of Benedita (Alcobaça). The actual state of the construction corresponds to an interruption of the work in its final phase, resulting in an 'almost-building' of multi-family housing, with parking lots, commerce and shops. Its interruption, triggered by economic factors (corresponding to a large amount of invested capital that is found), made also possible that several other problems had occurred in the time since the abandonment of construction and that translated into a real state of discomfort and community's dislike of the case - which lacks of solution (and discussion) for over a quarter century. Big Fuck, is the popular name by which the building became known in Benedita slang, a name that the author found satisfactory in describing the 'big' problem that the whole enterprise generated and the specific case presented here. Although the building is also formally referred to as 'Tomás Fonseca Building', adopting the name of its author, architect and head of the construction company which, by failing, prevented the completion of the work, and although in the drawings of the existing project collected in the Alcobaça city hall, the name given is Benedita Building. 'Big Fuck', as a name from slang, not only reinforces the idea of building from the circumstance, the reality of its immediate surroundings, but also refers to possible puns like Big Funk, or Big Fun (the first, the result of conversations with interested people in skateboarding, and funk being a rhythm-focused style of music, which implies 'a mix' of various types or styles, of instruments and of music, and the second, referring to that same idea of 'mix', but through the study of several projects, one of them, Cedric Price's Fun Palace) that sound like clues to a possible new program. Since the yard has been abandoned, in addition to the negative aspects that will be discussed, the construction has been the target of some types of appropriation, of which the use of the parking floor is still frequent the practice of extreme sports, specifically skateboarding. This appropriation, combined with the privileged qualities that the dimensions of the construction allow compared to the rest of this urban core, and the fact that the whole situation is in a 'deadlock' in which opinions are divided without unanimity, thus motivate the realization of a project for the public space (and surroundings), which aims the construction of a skatepark, specifically in the already appropriate space (underground floor), and, consequently, an intervention / rehabilitation project of the existing structure, which, intending to dynamize It, according to the program dictated by appropriation, and through the ideas of association and cooperation, proposes a 're-adjustment' of the function for which it was originally intended. Thus, this is a project for an open public for collective use, for the appropriation of the community from Benedita itself, its associations, schools or businesses. Between the Demolition and the Requalification refers both to the state or situation of the object presented here, as well, describes the project of requalification developed here, a requalification of the type, in which the structure is reused, but presupposes façade alteration, and therefore, demolition of non-structural walls and (openings) of slab - as a result of a complete programmatic transformation aimed at redesigning a family housing building into a housing, learning and training building composed of a varied combination of different uses.
