Resumo: | The history of gender inequality reflects very significantly within institutions where male domination is evident, such as in the military. Our objective is to understand the difficulties faced by military women, regarding the occupation of the highest positions in their hierarchical chain. This is a basic qualitative research, 10 semi-structured interviews were carried out with military women, starting from the perspective of their experiences and daily living in a mostly male environment. Military women were chosen from the perspective of their experiences and daily life in a mostly male environment. Contact with the interviewees was initially carried out, with the purpose of explaining the purpose of the study and the importance of each participation. Confidentiality was guaranteed, all of them signed the Free and Informed Consent Term and the study obtained a favorable opinion from the Institution's Ethics Committee, which it considered to be in accordance with the principles established in the Declaration of Helsinki. The results show that the military, even if they do not have theoretical knowledge about the glass ceiling phenomenon, are able to recognize its practice in their daily routine. It can be seen in their speeches that at some points in their careers, they are faced with gender inequality, with the demand to be equal to men so that they are respected, with prejudice, discrimination and with minimal opportunities for professional growth. . It can be concluded that, since the beginning of her trajectory in the military sphere, the woman was inserted in a different context, focused on the androcentric vision, which limited her to functions divided by gender and created barriers that prevented her from ascending professionally. |

It can be concluded that, since the beginning of her trajectory in the military sphere, the woman was inserted in a different context, focused on the androcentric vision, which limited her to functions divided by gender and created barriers that prevented her from ascending professionally.O histórico da desigualdade de gênero reflete de forma muito significativa dentro de instituições onde a dominação masculina é evidenciada, como nas forças armadas.
