Reestruturação do lugar da Pampilhosa: Transformação da memória do interface ferroviário no contexto urbano

Resumo: | In this moment, at the end of my degree, there was the opportunity to revisit and study the small town of Pampilhosa do Botão, where I can find my roots. The choice of subject matter came from my willingness to rethink the space where I begin my trip to Porto and to which I return every weekend. However, now I look at it and rethink it with a new perspective, in an informed and conscientious way, based on the knowledge I have acquired in the five years of the architecture degree. First I intend to develop a study where I propose to understand the relationship between the "city", the railway, the industrialization, and the formation of the public space, having as a starting point the analysis at both National and World level. From a strategic standpoint, the initial study has the purpose to sustain and emphasize the project drawn up in the subject of study, while vying for deepening and understanding the development and impact, both of the rail and road systems (that happened later) in this region. The small town of Pampilhosa do Botão is part of a railway interface, in a former industrial area associated with the urbanism of the town. It is also located in the Bairrada region, which is renowned by its gastronomy. Nowadays this region is also an industrial centre offering several services and activities that are disperse through the territory. This way, mobility and the various types of transportation are of great importance in the daily lives of the populations. Therefore it is necessary to guarantee offers and alternatives to the use of individual transportation - the car, which is predominant in this region. By stating my point, the field of the object of study has an interrogative and expectant character. It engages with the rehabilitation of an old area of several factory spaces and also their connection to and requalification of the adjacent railway space, involving it in the town. In conclusion, this dissertation is of a theoretical-practical nature where, from a strategic point of view, it has, primarily the objective of generating a reflection on the role of rail and road mobility, thus opening space for discussion, presenting various visions and points of view that point to the appreciation of the territory, taking into account the identity and memory of the place. The final proposal emphasizes the result of the learning and references which were absorbed from two distinct fields: the conceptual notions and ideologies of appreciation of patrimony and collective memory and the analysis of the territory of the case study. The intention was to draw up a coherent design that has its origin in the analysis of the territory and its potential, as well as the challenges of Urban Mobility and the theoretical and practical reflection on how to "order and plan" the Contemporary City. |
