O Inventário Estruturado de Simulação de Sintomas (SIMS) é um instrumento de auto-relato com 75 itens que tem como objetivo medir os comportamentos de simulação e de exagero de sintomas. Este estudo pretende contribuir para a atualização dos dados de validação do SIMS para a população portuguesa, utilizando uma amostra (N=80) das Consultas de Avaliação Neuropsicológica do Centro de Prestação de Serviços à Comunidade da Faculdade de Psicologia e de Educação da Universidade de Coimbra. As análises de validade interna foram efectuadas e mostram resultados positivos e significativos, com as pontuações mais elevadas a situarem-se entre as subescalas total e SIMS (.67 e .85). Na validade divergente, as correlações são todas positivas, sendo as correlações mais elevadas entre a SIMS e o BDI-II (.34 e .57), BSI (.11 e .62) e STAI-Y (.23 e .57). As correlações observadas entre o SIMS e o EPQ-R foram significativas, nomeadamente entre a escala de Neuroticismo e a SIMS (.25 e .56). A validade convergente apresenta valores maioritariamente negativos significativos entre a escala F do MMPI-2 e o SIMS (.31 e .59), o IMT-15 (-.20 e -.45) e o TOMM (-.11 e -.37). A análise da diferença entre os grupos clínicos apresenta resultados sem significância estatística (p=.19). O perfil da amostra de simulação (N=35), assumindo o ponte de corte >24, evidencia que a maioria dos sujeitos tem entre 36 e 55 anos, são maioritariamente do género feminino, tem baixo nível de escolaridade (1º ciclo) e 74,3% dos sujeitos apresentam idade, são do sexo feminino, têm um baixo nível de escolaridade (1º ciclo) e 74,3% dos sujeitos apresentam dificuldades cognitivas (verificado através do ponto de corte 22 dos resultados do MoCA). Apenas a variável anos de escolaridade tem um efeito significativo (p<.01).The assessment of negative response bias has become a real concern for researchers and clinicians in recent years, namely malingering and exaggeration symptoms. The Structured Inventory of Malingered Symptomatology (SIMS) is a 75-item self-report instrument that aims to measure malingering and symptom exaggeration behaviors. This study aims to contribute to the update of SIMS validation data for Portuguese population using a sample (N=80) of Neuropsychological Assessment Consultations of the Center for Community Services of the Psychology and Education Faculty of the University of Coimbra. Internal validity analyses were performed and show positive and significant scores overall, with the highest scores being between total and SIMS subscales (range between .67 and .85). In divergent validity the correlations are all positive, with the highest correlations being between the SIMS and the BDI-II (range between .34 and .57), BSI (range between .11 and .62), and STAI-Y (range between .23 and .57). The correlations observed between the SIMS and the EPQ-R were significant, namely between the Neuroticism scale and the SIMS (.25 and .56). Convergent validity shows mostly negative values with significance between the F scale of the MMPI-2 and the SIMS (.31 and .59), the IMT-15 (-.20 and -.45) and the TOMM (-.11 and -.37). The analysis of the difference between clinical groups shows results without statistical significance (p=.19). The profile of the malingering sample (N=35), stipulated by the cut-off score >24, highlights that the majority of the subjects are between 36 and 55 years old, are female, have a low level of education (1st cycle) and 74.3% of the subjects show cognitive difficulties (discrimination by the MoCA cut-off 22).
