A presente investigação tem como objetivo principal analisar a influência de variáveis sociodemográficas e familiares no Envolvimento Paterno, atendendo ao papel mediador do Ajustamento Conjugal. Explorou-se a influência direta do Ajustamento Conjugal e suas dimensões no Envolvimento Paterno e realizou-se uma comparação entre grupos referente às perceções de Aceitação-Rejeição Parental. A amostra é constituída por 100 sujeitos portugueses com filhos/as até aos 16 anos (53 pais homens e 47 mães). Os dados foram recolhidos em formato online ou em papel. Atendendo à temática visada, os instrumentos alvo de estudo foram um Questionário Sociodemográfico, de Dados Familiares e Complementares, o Questionário de Aceitação-Rejeição Parental (Pais), o Inventário de Envolvimento Paterno e a Escala de Ajustamento Mútuo. Para responder aos objetivos realizaram-se testes de regressão linear (simples e múltipla), t de Student e uma análise de mediação simples (PROCESS). Verificou-se que quando o Ajustamento Conjugal é elevado, há uma tendência para se verificar um maior Envolvimento Paterno. A relação entre a faixa etária dos/as filhos/as dos 6 aos 11 anos e o Envolvimento Paterno é mediada pelo Ajustamento Conjugal. Em comparação com as mães, os pais homens são mais carinhosos, porém, mais rejeitantes para com os/as filhos/as. Com esta investigação pretende-se incentivar as investigações sobre a paternidade e promover uma maior compreensão acerca da mesma para que esse conhecimento seja aplicado à prática clínica.Due to sociocultural transformations, the concept of fatherhood has changed, and the central role of paternal involvement in family life and in the development of children is now recognized. The present investigation has as its main focus to analyze the influence of sociodemographic and family variables in Father Involvement, given the mediating role of Marital Adjustment. The direct influence of Marital Adjustment and its dimensions on Father Involvement was also explored, as well as a comparison between groups regarding perceptions of Parental Acceptance-Rejection. The sample is made up of 100 Portuguese subjects with children up to 16 years old (53 fathers and 47 mothers). The data was collected in online or paper format. Given the intended subject, the instruments under study were a Sociodemographic, Family and Complementary data Questionnaire, the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (Parent), the Inventory of Father Involvement, and the Dyadic Adjustment Scale. To meet the objectives, linear regression tests (single and multiple), Student's t-tests, and a simple mediation analysis (PROCESS) were performed. Among other results, it was found that when the Marital Adjustment is high, there is a tendency to verify a greater Father Involvement. The relationship between the child’s age group from 6 to 11 years old and Father Involvement was mediated by Marital Adjustment. Compared to mothers, fathers are more affectionate, but also more rejective of their children.
